Today’s Model Predictions
11 NHL games are scheduled to take place today. Our model’s predictions for all 11 matchups can be found below.

Featured Matchup🎰
Calgary Flames @ Montreal Canadiens
Model Predicts- Flames ML, UNDER 6.5, Canadiens +1.5
The Calgary Flames will begin a three-game road trip on Tuesday, with the first stop coming in Montreal, Quebec to battle the Canadiens.
Calgary enters this matchup having experienced mixed results in November, posting a 1-1 record through two games. Meanwhile, Montreal has not found the win column in quite some time, losing three consecutive games to drop the Canadiens’ record to 4-7-1 for the season.
Sportsbooks make the Flames a road favorite to begin their road trip, and our model is in line with that sentiment. Let’s dive into why that is.
Calgary Flames
Have split both games in November thus far
Win over Devils, loss to Oilers
Own +1 goal differential in that span
Defense has been great over last two games despite one loss
Expected goalie- Dustin Wolf
Montreal Canadiens
Enter today on three-game losing streak
Losses to Kraken, Capitals, and Penguins
Own -11 goal differential in that span
Poor defense has been the reason for losing skid
GA/60 in 5-on-5 situation sits at 4.54 across last three games- ranks 32nd in NHL
Have surrendered 17 goals to opponents, but have scored just six of their own
Expected goalie- Sam Montembeault
Owns .895 Save % in 5-on-5. Ranks 21st in GSAx (+1.3)
What’s the Play?
Calgary and Montreal each failed to find the win column their last time on the ice, but we agree with our model that Calgary is the team to back in this spot.
As previously mentioned, Montreal’s defense has collapsed during their three-game losing streak, but poor play on the defensive end of the ice is nothing new for the Canadiens. Per Natural Stat Trick, Montreal ranks 32nd in the NHL in GA/60 in 5-on-5 with 3.96, which sits 0.46 goals higher than any other team. A large reason for that is the 15.07 High-Danger Scoring Chances Montreal surrenders per 60 minutes in 5-on-5, showing Montreal is one of the weakest defenses inside the blue line.
Meanwhile, Calgary is on the opposite end the spectrum, ranking in the top-nine of the NHL in GA/60 and HDCA/60 in 5-on-5. The Flames are far better defensively, and we expect that to carry them to victory here.
The Play: Flames ML (-125)
