Featured Matchup🎰

Milwaukee Bucks @ Indiana Pacers
Model Predicts- Pacers ML, OVER 216.5 , Pacers -9.5

The Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers will continue their best-of-seven series on Sunday night, squaring off in Game 4 of the series in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Milwaukee took home a victory in dominant fashion in Game 1, but has yet to find the win column again in the series, with the Pacers winning Games 2 and 3. To make matters worse for the Bucks, the injury bug continues to make its way through the locker room, making each game more of a challenge moving forward.

We’ve seen a significant change in the spread as more of Milwaukee’s players continue to drop, but our model still believes that spread is within reach for the Pacers. Let’s take a look at why that is.

Milwaukee Bucks
  • Lost Games 2 and 3 after winning Game 1

    • Lost 125-108 in Game 2, 121-118 in overtime in Game 3

    • -10.5 Net Rating in that span

  • Defense has gone from bad to worse in postseason

    • Regular season- 19th in Defensive Rating (115.0). Opponents shot 47% overall and 35.6% from three

    • Postseason- 118.5 Defensive Rating. Opponents shooting 45.8% overall and 30.1% from three

  • Injuries are piling up- Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard are doubtful, Khris Middleton is questionable

Indiana Pacers
  • Have enjoyed massive turnaround from Game 1

    • Game 1- Posted -13.3 Net Rating. Shot 39.6% overall

    • Games 2 and 3- Posted +10.5 Net Rating, Shot 48.7% overall

  • Have now dominated Bucks in most games this season

    • 4-1 record in regular season. Averaged 128.8 points per game

    • 2-1 record in postseason. Averaging 113.3 points per game

  • Injuries- Benedict Mathurin is OUT

What’s the Play?

Once again, the spread has spiked due to Milwaukee’s injuries, but we agree with our model to back the Pacers on the spread here.

Not having Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard in the lineup is obviously a massive blow for the Bucks, and that is largely due to the lack of depth the Bucks possess. Four of Milwaukee’s players are averaging 15.0 points or more in this series, but no other player has touched the 8.0-point mark. Lilard is a huge piece of the scoring too, accounting for 28.9% of Milwaukee’s points in the series, a load that will be difficult for Khris Middleton, Bobby Portis, and Brook Lopez to make up for.

Additionally, Milwaukee’s defense continues to trend in the wrong direction, as evidenced by the 128.8 Defensive Rating over the last two games. That defense, or lack thereof, will likely be present in this matchup, and we don’t believe the Bucks have enough offensive firepower to keep pace with the Pacers, giving value to Indiana here.

The Play: Pacers -9.5 (-110)

On This Day in History🗓

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff (Getty Images)

Anyone know what has happened on April 28th throughout history? We didn’t have a clue either, but it appears that it has been a busy day.

On April 28th…

1987- The NBA announces four expansion teams to come in the near future. Charlotte, North Carolina and Miami, Florida were the first two cities to get teams, joining the league in 1988, while Minneapolis, Minnesota and Orlando, Florida would join the league in 1989. All four cities are still home to NBA teams today.

1990- The Boston Celtics defeat the New York Knicks 157-128 in Game 2 of a first round playoff series. The 157-point scoring outburst set a new NBA playoff record, one that still stands to this day. Kevin McHale led the way for Boston with 31 points, while seven additional Celtics players scored at least 10.

2016- University of California, Berkeley quarterback Jared Goff is selected with the No.1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Goff was selected by the Los Angeles Rams, the team he would lead the the Super Bowl in the 2017-18 season. He now plays for the Detroit Lions, and led the Lions to their first division title since 1992 last season.
