Featured Matchup🎰
Philadelphia 76ers @ Memphis Grizzlies
Model Predicts- 76ers ML, OVER 219.5, 76ers -3
The Philadelphia 76ers will wrap up their three-game road trip on Wednesday night, with the final stop coming in Memphis, Tennessee to battle the Grizzlies.
Philadelphia enters this matchup in the midst of an extreme slump, one that has resulted in an abysmal 2-11 record through 13 games. Meanwhile, Memphis has strung together a decent season thus far despite being faced with a plethora of injuries, and now owns an 8-7 record following a loss to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday.
The 76ers have not looked anywhere close to the NBA Finals contender many thought they would be, but our model still projects Philadelphia to win and cover the spread this evening. Let’s dive into why that is.
Philadelphia 76ers
Enter today on four-game losing streak
Losses to Knicks, Cavaliers, Magic, and Heat
Own -49 point differential in that stretch
Low production on offense has been catalyst for poor start to season
Rank 30th in Offensive Rating this season at 104.2- Down from 116.2 in 2023-24 season
Shooting 42.8% from floor overall and 31.6% from three- rank bottom-two in NBA in both categories
Defense has done some good things despite recent struggles
Have held opponents to 42.7 points/game in paint across last three games (8th in NBA)
Opponents averaging 107.3 points/game while shooting 32.2% from three in last three games
Memphis Grizzlies
Come into tonight off loss to Nuggets
Lost game 122-110. Outscored 68-57 in first half, 54-53 in second half
Have now lost three of last four games
Offense has cratered during sudden losing skid
First 11 games of season- 116.9 Offensive Rating. Shot 49.3% overall and 35.9% from three
Last four games- 107.6 Offensive Rating. Shooting 43.0% overall and 27.0% from three
Still dealing with tons of injuries to key players
Ja Morant and GG Jackson remain sidelined. Rookie Zach Edey will join them tonight (ankle)
What’s the Play?
Philadelphia has arguably been the worst team in the NBA thus far, but we agree with our model to back the 76ers in this spot.
This will be the second game of a back-to-back for Memphis, which already puts the Grizzlies in a tough spot. To make matters worse, Memphis is dealing with a plethora of injuries to key players, as Ja Morant, Zach Edey, Marcus Smart, and GG Jackson are all listed as OUT for tonight’s game, which significantly impacts the Grizzlies at all levels of the lineup.
Meanwhile, Philadelphia has the potential to be fully healthy for this matchup, as Tyrese Maxey was upgraded from out to questionable for tonight’s matchup. Maxey’s presence in the lineup is a big boost for a struggling 76ers offense, which may be what this team needs to get the train back on the tracks.
It’s an ugly bet, but Philadelphia has the rest advantage, has played well defensively in recent games, and will have far more talent at its disposal tonight compared to a Grizzlies offense that possesses very little fire power at the moment. As a result, we’ll back the 76ers on the spread.
The Play: 76ers -3 (-110)

News Around the League
💪 Russell Westbrook makes triple-double history vs Grizzlies. Denver Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook became the first player in NBA history to record 200 career triple-doubles during a 122-110 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, tallying 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists. Westbrook, who previously surpassed Oscar Robertson's record of 181 triple-doubles in 2021, is one of only two players to average a triple-double for an entire season, achieving the feat multiple times during his career. Now 36 and in his first season with Denver, Westbrook is averaging 10.7 points, 5.3 assists, and 4 rebounds per game.
☘️ Celtics hand Cavaliers their first loss of 2024-25 season. The Boston Celtics handed the Cleveland Cavaliers their first loss of the season, defeating them 120-117 in NBA Cup action behind Jayson Tatum's 33 points, 12 rebounds, and six three-pointers. Boston's hot shooting, including 22 made threes and a 53.7% success rate from beyond the arc, fueled a dominant first-half performance, though Cleveland mounted a strong third-quarter comeback led by Donovan Mitchell's 35 points. Despite the Cavs cutting a 21-point deficit to two, Tatum's clutch layup sealed the win, ending Cleveland's historic 15-0 start to the season.

Oakland Athletics legend Rickey Henderson (MLB.com)
Anyone know what has happened on November 20th throughout history? We didn’t have a clue either, but it appears that it has been a busy day.
On November 20th…
1977- Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton rushes for 275 yards in a game against the Minnesota Vikings. Payton averaged 6.9 yards per carry in the game and scored the lone touchdown of the contest, enabling Chicago to beat its division rival by a score of 10-7. The performance also set a new NFL record for rushing yards in a game, a record that would stand until 2000.
1990- Oakland Athletics star Rickey Henderson wins the American League MVP award. The honor came after a dominant season for Henderson, one in which he recorded 28 home runs, 61 RBIs, 65 stolen bases, and 119 runs scored. It was the only MVP Henderson would win in his career, although he finished inside the top-10 in MVP voting five other times.
1999- The 11th College Football Holy War between Boston College and Notre Dame is played in South Bend, Indiana. Boston College stole the win from Notre Dame on the road, picking up a 31-29 victory. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Golden Eagles in the rivalry, and the loss made Notre Dame ineligible for a bowl game for the first time since 1986.
