Former Los Angeles lakers head coach Frank Vogel (Darren Carrol/Getty Images)

☀️ Phoenix finds a new head coach. The Phoenix Suns dismissed Monty Williams following a second-round playoff loss to the Denver Nuggets a few weeks ago, leaving the franchise’s head coach position vacant. However, it appears that Phoenix is coming to terms with Frank Vogel to be the team’s next bench boss. Shams Charania of The Athletic is reporting that the contract will be for 5 years and $31 million, giving Vogel a sizable payday. Vogel was last the coach for the Los Angeles Lakers from 2019-2022, winning a championship in 2020, and has also been a coach for the Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacer sin his career.

🔄 Anthony Mantha is on the trade block. The Washington Capitals missed the playoffs this season for the first time since the 2013-2014 season, and as a result the Caps are looking to mix things up. Forward Anthony Mantha is the first player that the team has announced is available for trade, but he is under contract for one more season at $5.7 million which could complicate some things. Washington traded for Mantha near the 2021 trade deadline, acquiring him from the Detroit Red Wings for Jakub Vrana, Richard Panik, and a first and second-round pick.

✍️ Elias Pettersson, Canucks could come to terms on extension this offseason. Vancouver Canucks star Elias Pettersson and his agent, J.P. 👋 Corbin Burnes gets ejected against Cincinnati. Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Corbin Burnes, didn’t have his best start of the season on Friday, surrendering three earned runs in 6.0 innings. However, there was still a chance that Milwaukee would trot him back to the mound for the seventh inning, that is until he was ejected for spiking a baseball and yelling at the umpire after making a fantastic play to end the sixth inning. It was the first ejection of his career.

✍️ Red Sox outfielder Rob Refsnyder agrees to extension. The Boston Red Sox and Rob Refsnyder have come to terms on an extension that will keep him with the squad through 2024, with the team option in 2025. The 32-year-old is in his second season with Boston, hitting.284 with one home run and 17 RBIs in across 33 games.

What Else is Cooking🍳

Green bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (Bill Streicher/USA TODAY Sports)

🤨 Is Jordan Love just as good as Aaron Rodgers? The Green Bay Packers traded Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets in April, giving the keys tp the franchise to Jordan Love. There are plenty of questions surrounding Love’s ability, and rightfully so considering he has only started one game since being drafted in 2020. However, Packers second-year wide receiver Romeo Doubs had this to say about Love, per Dennis Karuse of Spectrum 1.

I think Jordan is a really good quarterback. When you go from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan, Aaron was a really great quarterback, but I believe Jordan can do the same exact thing. I don’t really see what’s the big difference

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs

It remains to be seen what Love is capable of, but it appears that he has the support of his teammates and Green Bay’s executives.

⛳️ Kaitlin Clark is hitting the links. Iowa Hawkeyes star and women’s national basketball player of the year Kaitlin Clark is taking her talents from the hardwood to the greens. Hart will play in the John Deer Classic on July 5th, and she is paired with PGA pro Zach Johnson, who is also from Iowa. Clark has reportedly been playing golf since she was a kid, so we think it’s likely she puts on a show on the links just like she does on the court.

📈 Candace Parker continues her climb on the all-time scoring list. WNBA superstar Candace Parker scored 13 points in a Las Vegas Aces victory over the Atlanta Dream on Friday, putting her in eighth on the WNBA’s all-time scoring list. The performance pushed Parker past Katie Smith, and now puts the two-time MVP less than 400 points behind Sue Bird in seventh. Parker’s next chance to close the gap will come on Sunday against the Indiana Fever.

On This Day in History🗓

Baseball broadcaster Vin Scully (Jon Soo Hoo/LA Dodgers)

Anyone know what has happened on June 3rd throughout history? We didn’t have a clue either, but it appears that it has been a busy day.

On June 3rd…

1935- New York Yankees legend Lou Gehrig becomes the first player in MLB history to hit four consecutive home runs in a game. New York would end that matchup with 20 runs, but needed every run they could get as they surrendered 13 to the Philadelphia Athletics. Gehrig is one of only 18 players to hit four homers in a single game.

1989- Late broadcaster Vin Scully calls 23 innings of baseball in two different cities, all of which came in one day. Scully began his day in St. Louis for a matchup between the Cubs and Cardinals, a game that went 10 innings. He then travelled to Houston, where he went straight to the Astrodome and hopped in the booth for the Astros and Dodgers game that was heading to extra innings. Scully took over the play-by-play in extras for a matchup that ended up going 22 innings, adding 13 more frames to Scully’s total for the day.

2012- Tiger Woods gets his 73rd victory on the PGA Tour at the Memorial Tournament. Woods won by two strokes over Andrés Romero and Rory Sabbatini, a performance that would tie him with Jack Niklaus. He currently has 82 PGA Tour wins in his historic career, tied with Sam Snead for the most all-time.
