Featured Matchup🎰

Sacramento Kings @ Phoenix Suns
Model Predicts- Suns ML, UNDER 245, Kings +5

The Sacramento Kings will continue their three-game road trip on Tuesday, with the next stop coming in Phoenix, Arizona to take on the Suns.

Sacramento fell short on leg one of its road trip, losing 127-113 at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, the Kings are still 7-4 in the last 11 games, coincidentally the same record that the Suns own in that same stretch of time.

Theses teams are playing at a similar level at the moment, but our model expects the Suns to pick up the win here in a tightly contested game. Let’s take a look at why that is.

Sacramento Kings
  • Coming off loss to Thunder in most recent game

    • Lost 127-113

    • Still shot well- made 49% of shot attempts and shot 38% from three

  • Have had upper hand against Phoenix this season

    • Own 2-1 record and +7.0 Net Rating in three games

    • +6 point differential in games played in Phoenix

  • Injuries-Sasha Vezenkov (OUT), Chris Duarte (Questionable)

Phoenix Suns
  • Coming off loss to Golden State Warriors

    • Lost 113-112

    • Three-point line was cause for loss- shot 32% from deep, allowed Warriors to shoot 42%

  • Have been one of best teams in NBA despite recent loss

    • Own +8.0 Net Rating in last 10 games- 5th in NBA

    • Red hot shooting- hitting 55.3% of shot attempts in last 10 games

  • Injuries- None

What’s the Play?

Stopping the red hot shooting from the Suns is going to be a tall task, but we agree with our model that Sacramento can keep pace and cover the spread in tonight’s game.

Sacramento has proven it matches up well with this Suns team, posting a 2-1 record in the season series, with the only loss coming by two points. Additionally, the Kings are shooting just as well as the Suns over the course of the last ten games, shooting 50.8% overall and 37.9% from three (NBA.com).

Our model thinks the Suns have a minuscule edge here, making a five-point spread too large.

The Play: Kings +5 (-110)

News Around the League

💪 Wembanyama posts 10-block triple-double in win over Raptors. San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama showcased a remarkable performance on Monday, achieving a triple-double with 27 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 blocks. The performance made him the first rookie since Clint Capela in 2021 and the first ever to make at least two 3-pointers in such a feat. This accomplishment also marked only the fourth time a rookie has achieved a blocks triple-double, the last being Hall of Famer David Robinson in 1990, with Wembanyama further contributing five assists and two steals in just 28 minutes of play.

😬 Refs admit wrongdoing in Knicks/Rockets game. In Monday's game against the Houston Rockets, officials acknowledged an erroneous shooting foul call on New York Knicks' Jalen Brunson at the game's closing moments. A controversial call with 0.1 seconds remaining in the tied match led to Aaron Holiday's winning free throws, spraking outrage amongst Knicks players and coaches. Malloy stated that upon review, it was determined that the offensive player had resumed a regular playing position on the court, rendering the post-release contact incidental and not warranting a foul call, but Houston still won the game.
