Today’s Model Predictions

Six NBA games are scheduled to take place today. Our model’s predictions for all six matchups can be found below.

Featured Matchup🎰

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Milwaukee Bucks
Model Predicts- Thunder ML, OVER 231.5, Thunder +3

The Oklahoma City Thunder will play the second game of a three-game road trip on Sunday, taking on the No.2 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks.

Oklahoma City enters tonight’s matchup at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 49-20 record, largely due to the team’s four-game win streak. Milwaukee has also found the win column several times in the last week, emerging victorious in three of the last four contests.

Both of these squads are winning in bunches at the moment, but our model believes the Thunder will be the team that continues its winning streak tonight. Let’s take a look at why that is.

Oklahoma City Thunder
  • Enter tonight on four-game win streak

    • Wins over mavericks, Grizzlies, Jazz, and Raptors

    • +45 point differential in that span

  • Getting it done on both ends of the floor during win streak

  • Injuries- No players listed on injury report

Milwaukee Bucks
  • Own 3-1 record in last four games

    • Wins over 76ers, Suns, and Nets. Loss to Celtics

    • +5.3 Net Rating in that span

  • Defense is struggling despite winning recent games

    • Own 121.8 Defensive Rating in last four game- Ranks 26th in NBA

    • Opponents shooting 49.9% overall and 40.8% from three in same four games

  • Injuries- Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton both questionable

What’s the Play?

Milwaukee is listed as the favorite in tonight’s matchup, but we agree with our model that Oklahoma City is the better team right now and we’ll back them on the spread as a road underdog.

Milwaukee’s defense has been a problem all year long. Trading Jrue Holiday for Damian Lillard has made the Bucks’ perimeter defense nonexistent, and at this very moment it is the weakest it has ever been as Milwaukee ranks in the bottom-three of the NBA in opponent three-point percentage in the last four games.

OKC is far more consistent defensively, and has enough talent to match what is normally a potent Bucks offense. We wouldn’t mind sprinkling the Thunder money line here, but the spread is our official play.

The Play: Thunder +3 (-110)

News Around the League

🗽 DiVincenzo scores 31 to lead Knicks to win over Nets. Donte DiVincenzo led the New York Knicks with 31 points, followed by Miles McBride with 26, in their 105-93 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Jalen Brunson and Isaiah Hartenstein contributed 17 points each, with Brunson adding eight assists, and Hartenstein grabbing nine rebounds. Despite being plagued by an Achilles injury earlier in the season, Hartenstein expressed feeling healthy again, attributing their recent success to playing more unselfish basketball.

🥊 Jabari Smith Jr, Kris Dunn ejected after throwing punches. Houston Rockets forward Jabari Smith Jr. and Utah Jazz guard Kris Dunn were ejected in the second quarter for throwing punches during Saturday's game, with Dunn grabbing Smith's jersey and exchanging words before Smith retaliated. This altercation occurred just five seconds into the quarter. This incident marks another clash between the two players this season, following a previous confrontation during a game in January where they received technical fouls but remained in the game. Despite the ejections, the Rockets led 85-55 at halftime and eventually won the game.

On This Day in History🗓

Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout (NBC Sports)

Anyone know what has happened on March 24th throughout history? We didn’t have a clue either, but it appears that it has been a busy day.

On March 24th…

2002- Craig Perks wins the PGA Tour’s Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Perks chipped in twice on the final three holes to secure the win, defeating Stephen Ames by two strokes. It would be the only victory for Perks during his PGA Tour career.

2019- Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout signs the largest contract in North American sports history. Trout’s contract was worth $426.5 million, and would be paid out over a 12-year span. That contract would stand as the record for several years, that is until Trout’s ex-teammate Shohei Ohtani signed a $700 million deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

2019- New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski announces his retirement from the NFL. Gronkowski was a three-time Super Bowl Champion at the time of his retirement, and held postseason records for receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns for a tight end. However, his retirement was short lived, as he would return to the field for the 2020 season as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
