Today’s Model Predictions
Eight NBA games are scheduled to take place today. Our model’s predictions for all eight matchups can be found below.

Featured Matchup🎰
Phoenix Suns @ Cleveland Cavaliers
Model Predicts- Cavaliers ML, UNDER 236.5, Suns +7.5
The Phoenix Suns will continue their five-game road trip on Monday, with the next stop coming in Cleveland, Ohio to battle the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Phoenix enters this matchup with plenty of momentum on its side, a result of winning two consecutive games. That streak brings the Suns’ record to 2-1 on their road trip and 21-20 for the season, while Cleveland continues to be one of the more dominant teams in the NBA after posting a 35-6 record through 41 games.
Cleveland is a sizable 7.5-point favorite in this matchup, but our model expects Phoenix to keep the deficit within that number. Let’s dive into why that is.
Phoenix Suns
Enter today on two-game win streak
One win over Wizards, one win over Pistons
Own +11 point differential in that span
Offense has been among the NBA’s best during road trip
Own 121.2 Offensive Rating across the last three games- 8th best mark in NBA
Averaging impressive 124.0 points/game- up from 113.2 for season
Injury report is relatively clean, but is something to keep eyes on
Bradley Beal is questionable. Jusuf Nurkic is OUT
Cleveland Cavaliers
Have produced mixed results across last four games
Own 2-2 record in that time. Wins over Pacers and Timberwolves, losses to Pacers and Thunder
Own -18 point differential in that time
Weak defense has been catalyst for sudden struggles
Own 118.4 Defensive Rating across last four games- ranks 22nd in NBA and is up from 111.4 for season
Opponents are shooting 48.4% from the floor overall, leading to 119.0 points/game
Two key players listed on injury report
Isaac Okoro and Evan Mobley are both OUT for this matchup
What’s the Play?
Phoenix’s recent win streak has not come against strong teams, but we still agree with our model to back the Suns on the spread as a road underdog.
Cleveland’s sudden defensive collapse is a big concern, and it is something Phoenix can take advantage of even with Bradley Beal potentially being sidelined. Per NBA.com. the Cavaliers have allowed opponents to shoot a blazing 49.0% from the floor overall across the last three games, which includes 37.8% from three. This team is getting lit up from all angles, and with the Suns being as hot as they are, we project Phoenix to keep pace in the scoring column tonight.
Additionally, the absence of Evan Mobley leaves a large hole inside for the Cavaliers’ defense, which further helps the Suns’ chances in this spot.
Our model projects the spread for this matchup to be 6.5 points, giving us room to back the Suns at +7.5.
The Play: Suns +7.5 (-105)

News Around the League
👑 Kings beat Wizards for ninth win in ten games. Domantas Sabonis led the Sacramento Kings with 29 points and 18 rebounds in a dominant 123-100 victory over the Washington Wizards, marking their ninth win in 10 games. DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk, and Keon Ellis provided strong offensive support, while De’Aaron Fox added 12 points and a season-high 13 assists as the Kings built a commanding lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Despite Jonas Valanciunas’ 23-point, 12-rebound effort, the Wizards suffered their 10th consecutive loss, as Sacramento's efficient offense and key plays, including Ellis’s clutch 3-pointers, secured the win.
🦌 Bucks beat short-handed 76ers behind 34 points from Giannis. Giannis Antetokounmpo powered the Milwaukee Bucks with 34 points and 15 rebounds in a 123-109 victory over the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers, extending their winning streak to four games. Despite Tyrese Maxey's impressive 37-point performance, the 76ers—missing key players like Joel Embiid and Paul George—couldn't sustain their early momentum and faded in the second half, marking their sixth consecutive loss. Damian Lillard added 25 points for Milwaukee, which improved to 24-17, while rookie Adem Bona shone for Philadelphia with 10 points on perfect shooting in his first career start.

On This Day in History🗓

NBA Legend Michael Jordan (Getty Images)
Anyone know what has happened on January 20th throughout history? We didn’t have a clue either, but it appears that it has been a busy day.
On January 20th…
1974- Notre Dame basketball defeats UCLA 71-70 in South Bend, Indiana. The game snapped UCLA’s historic 88-game win streak, which is still the longest win streak in NCAAB history. The Bruins would shake off the loss though, advancing all the way to the Final Four before losing to NC State.
1996- The NHL Board of Directors approves the sale of the Winnipeg Jets. The move allowed the Jets to move to their desired destination before the 1996-97 season, which ended up being Phoenix, Arizona. The team would change its name to the Coyotes, and the Atlanta Thrashers would eventually relocate to Winnipeg to become the Jets of today’s NHL.
2000- Michael Jordan makes his return to the NBA. Jordan would go on to join the Washington Wizards, becoming a part owner and the franchise’s President of Basketball Operations. He would also play for the Wizards for two seasons, averaging 21.2 points per game and earning an All-Star nod in both seasons.
