Today’s Model Predictions
One NBA game is scheduled to take place today. Our model’s predictions for that matchup can be found below.

Featured Matchup🎰
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Dallas Mavericks
Model Predicts- Mavericks ML, OVER 210.5, Timberwolves +2
The Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks will continue their best-of-seven series on Tuesday night, squaring off in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals.
Minnesota enters tonight’s matchup in quite a deep hole, losing each of the first three games in this series, and now finds itself in danger of being swept. Those losses now put the Timberwolves’ postseason record at 8-6, while the Mavericks have won 11 of their 15 postseason contests.
Dallas has clearly had the upper hand in this series, but our model expects Minnesota to remain competitive with its season on the line. Let’s dive into why that is.
Minnesota Timberwolves
Enter tonight’s game down 3-0 in series
Lost Game 1 108-105, Game 2 109-108, and Game 3 116-107
Own -4.2 Net Rating in series
Defensive production has been low in this series compared to rest of postseason
Vs Suns and Nuggets- 107.6 Defensive Rating. Opponents shot 45.7% overall and 35.7% from three
Vs Mavericks- 118.5 Defensive Rating. Opponents shooting 51.0% overall and 38.1% from three
Injuries- No players on injury report
Dallas Mavericks
Increased offensive production in series has been key
First two rounds of playoffs- 113.9 Offensive Rating while shooting 45.9% overall
WCF- 118.5 Offensive Rating while shooting 51.0% overall
Halftime adjustments have also played massive role in series
First half of games in WCF- own -5.8 Net Rating and -7 point differential
Second half of games in WCF- +14.5 Net Rating and +20 point differential
Injuries- Luka Doncic and Maxi Kleber are questionable. Dereck Lively, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, and Greg Brown are OUT
What’s the Play?
Dallas has seen a much-needed spike in production on the offensive end in this series, which comes as a bit of a surprise given Minnesota’s stellar defensive numbers this season. However, we agree with our model that the Timberwolves have enough left in the tank to keep this game close.
Some metrics in this series make it appear that the Timberwolves don’t matchup well with the Mavericks, but that is far from the case. Minnesota may own a -4.2 Net Rating in this series, but in four regular season games against Dallas that Rating was a stellar +13.3. We’d expect that to see that level of production show up at some point, and tonight’s game presents a solid opportunity as Dereck Lively, who owns a +14.7 Net Rating in this series, will be sidelined for the Mavericks.
Not much about this series has been pretty for Minnesota, but we think the Timberwolves can find enough magic with its back against the wall to cover the spread here.
The Play: Timberwolves +2 (-110)
